Claire Danes has a new movie entitled “Evening.” She stars along with Glenn Close and Meryl Streep among others. I have no idea what the movie is about, I just saw her promoting on David Letterman.

I am so over Claire Danes

Claire Danes was the very first babe I saved pictures of in my hard drive. That was probably back around 1996, during my very first taste of the “internet.” I had the biggest crush on Claire Danes, she was my age, and she was already huge even when she was only around 15 that time.

There was this song entitled “Claire Danes Poster,” done by the band Size 14. It was also a hit here in the Philippines. I remember the song clearly becuase in some way it shared my sentiments about her. Read the lyrics of the chorus below.

I’m gonna pick up some beer, and stay at home
And stare at my Claire Danes poster
She looks so bitchin’, she always listens
She never tells me I’m a loser

Like all celebrity crushes, my Claire Danes obsessed-days ended. It happened a little before the Brokedown Palace incident surfaced.

For the unaware, Claire Danes shot the movie Brokedown Palace in the Philippines. She hated Manila and was very vocal about it, mocking everything from our cockroaches, rats, sewage system.

I couldn’t care less. As a Filipino I was hurt. She was wrong for generalizing our country from the little she saw. As a big fan of hers, I almost felt guilty for even liking her. But, she just narrated what she saw. Cockroaches, rats, we all have them in our houses, and heck, even we curse the slumps of Manila. If at all, what she said should have been seen as a wake-up call.

Back to the present

From my perspective, she cooled off. Maybe I’m just not that exposed to movies but I don’t remember seeing her in a big hit in at least 5 years. I was even surprised to hear her name in Letterman, it almost felt like the words “You’re still alive?” were silently uttered in my head.

From what I saw (In Letterman), she has achieved a certain level of sophistication in her beauty. She always had that cute, childish charm. She still has it, but now her beauty commands respect - almost intimidating. But why not, after all, she has had the exposure of people twice her age.

She was stunning. Her color was perfect (golden) - I guess from her scuba diving stint (certified instructor). She’s very, very confident when she talks, I smile when I see her laugh. I’ll watch her new movie. Oh, Claire…

Notice the lack of enthusiasm in this post’s title. I don’t give a rat’s ass about Pinoy Big Brother. I mean, I literally haven’t watched even a minute of an episode of the entire second season. All I know about Pinoy Big Brother are from rants of it’s crappiness from multiple internet sources.

There’s this one email from a so-called ABS-CBN crew about the Wendy Valdez eviction. How the sms votes don’t really count because there are these “talent editors” who really have the final say on who to evict. Attatched is a copy of the email.

ABS-CBN, just give Wendy the career she deserves and stop fooling the masses. We all know that she’s already a big star, after all, she has what it takes, and she’ll probably stay around long enough until you find the new “in” star.

Rihanna

Ok, first of all, I know that I should be posting more Filipina bebots in this blog. And second of all, if you don’t know what the title of this post means, I suggest you watch this video first. It might be that you are lost in the world of rock n’ roll (like me) or you just don’t listen to the radio or watch video music channels at all. Rihanna is hot. And so is that Umbrella song featuring Jay-Z.

The day I first saw that video, I did not switch channels simply because of rap-music-video-hoe-like sexy dancing - who would? Then I thought, hmm, the song’s kinda catchy sure, but how shallower can these RnB songs get huh? First they talk about those gold teeth jackets, and now of all things an umbrella? Besides, the song was not smooth (how I like RnB), ala Ne-Yo’s new material.

Then, throughout the rest of that day, I found myself repeatedly uttering the sounds - ella ella eh eh eh.

Infectious. One of those songs which start out as okay and ends as great. Great video to match. I like Rihanna in that song, in the way she sings that song, in the way she moves in that video (check out what she does in 2:06 - so cute!). I haven’t seen much of her (again, rocker here), so I have not much to judge. Then of course, after this post’s research I would have already exposed myself to a lot of Rihanna photos and information. So from here, I can say that she has great legs, a nice ass, a cute nose, tantalizing eyes, but that singing voice… That always gets me.

I was flipping channels earlier and landed on I think Star Movies showing Wedding Crashers. The character “Claire” looked familiar. Of course, The Notebook’s Rachel McAdams. How could I not remember her, she was lovely in The Notebook. Rachel was also in The Hot Chick, Mean Girls and Red Eye.

As I was finishing the movie, I was already “thinking in blog.” What words best described her beauty, her aura, what title would be appropriate for my blog entry. I looked deeper into her role in Wedding Crashers - she was a charmer. She has an infectious smile, she has that sort of southern belleish appeal. It was all about the face. Although she obviously has a great body, none of her roles have established her as a sex icon, no magazines either. That brings out a miniscule amount of “sexy” in the way we see her, but all the more adding to her charm.

She’s only turning 29 this October and apparently hails from Canada. I know for a fact that she was a close second for Jessica Alba’s role in the Fantastic Four as Sue Storm - that would have been something and I honestly would enjoy that more. Joyce Jimenez

Is back. I’m excited. Last night on 24 Oras, they had a small Chikka Minute feature on Joyce Jimenez. Apparently, she will once again grace the cover of FHM magazine this July. In fact, there are already billboards all over the Metro that reads: “A Fantasy Returns. Find out this July.”

I guess Joyce is the ultimate Sexy Star. She’s got the look and the sexiness. Plus, she’s willing to bare all and do all without second thoughts. Joyce was a late ’90’s - early 2000’s icon. She left the scene to finish her college degree in Australia.

It is said that FHM’s July issue has the biggest circulation in their history with 165,000 copies printed. I wonder how many of those will be left with pages sticking together. Once I get my own copy I promise to post them here. Watch out for that.

Jessica Alba day

So I guess you know what I just watched - Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Then when I got home, it was Jessica Alba again in Late Night with Conan O’ Brien. Now, I’m not really one of her bigger fans, sure I think she’s hot as hell but I guess she’s been blown out of proportion in terms of babeness which is almost unappealing to he-who-likes-the-unexplored.

In her Late Night guesting, I noticed how gold her skin was. It made the already-so-pale Conan’s skin just lifeless. She was one of those guests Conan treated like a goddess - like Rebecca Romjin. Then she talks about how during her teens no one would even dare ask her out.

I guess part of her unique look is due to the fact that she’s a mixture of American, Mexican, Danish and French. I still remember her role in Flipper as Maya, one of her earliest projects. Then there’s the controversial May 2006 appearance on the cover of Playboy. Oh well, these are just some of the things you might look out for when you do another Jessica Alba search. Good luck. We here at Mobile Philippines are quite accustomed to beautiful women. And yet as Ms. Earth 2005 Bralizilian beauty queen Priscilla Meirelles walked into the studio, wearing a simple long-sleeved black top and jeans, our breaths were held as we gaped at her smiling, taking a seat and answering our questions. Forgive us if we’re stuttering.

Well, the interview is cut and, being featured in a technology magazine, most of the questions are, well, technology-related. So resort to good old Wikipedia and here’s what I found out.

In 2004, she won the Miss Earth Pageant which was held here in Manila. She also claimed the Best in National Costume award. That same year, Brazil won all four major pageants. She stands 5′10″ and also won Miss Globe in 2003. And, the most intriguing information I read in that Wikipedia entry - she is currently dating Marc Nelson, who coincidentally, was the host of that Miss Earth 2004 pageant.

I just saw the June 2007 issue of Manual magazine and was surprised to see a very matue looking Mariel Rodriguez. Then on the other corner of the magazine stand, it’s Mariel once again! This time for Maxim. Now, I don’t normally buy these titles, I just wait for the scans to scatter, so I don’t know how much skin she bared. I’m still looking around for complete scans. I just snagged a couple of promo pictures.

I guess she’s hot in her own right. I mean, to appear on a daily basis on national television, the average Filipino will surely fall for her. She has a confident look as well and she looks smart. Well, she is smart because she came from my high school - De La Salle Zobel.

Hopefully I’ll update this post soon when I get a hold of the magazine scans, for now just feast your eyes on these.

Is it safe to say that Ria Sacasas is another Ellen Adarna in the making? Her pictures, like Ellen’s, are all over the internet. People use these pictures in fake Friendster, MySpace and Multiply accounts, and she is getting enough buzz to merit her as an internet celebrity. Unlike Ellen though, there is no confirmation if she has ever appeared in anything other than the internet. She could be a model and an artista though; she definitely has the looks.
