Eula Valdez in person

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

I’m happy. I just saw one of my favorites. I confess, I’m all for hot moms. I caught Eula Valdez yesterday at the Alabang Town Center, around 6:00 p.m. just in front of National Bookstore. I’m not sure if this is the first time I saw her but I’m pretty sure I would’ve remembered it if I had.

She was wearing regular (boring) clothes - jeans, a gray tee and sandals. Nothing that could’ve shown her to-die-for body. They (clothes) weren’t even tight. Which led me to concentrate on nothing more but her face. She doesn’t look old at all; well, she doesn’t look young (20’s) either but she looks young for her age (38). She’s still sporting a short hairdo, kind of like how she looked liked in her latest FHM feature. She’s smooth and I could notice some moles on her face. Height-wise, I’m estimating 5′3″ to 5′5 max. I wish I could’ve seen more of her but she was walking fast and I was heading the opposite direction. She had like a sort of yaya with her, most probably just about to pick up someone from school. I’m not really sure how people who see her for the first time react, but I’m biased. For me, it was a real treat.

Marian Rivera Manual October 2007

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Here goes Marian Rivera’s first men’s magazine feature. The honor goes to Manual Magazine of the Mega Publishing Group. This is actually my first Manual magazine ever. After this I think I’ll buy more future issues.

Issue review

This October 2007 issue of Manual is thin but packed. It only has 88 pages, yet it still managed to pack features on: Of course Marian, VJ Andi Manzano, VJ Kat Alano, Nikki Gil, Sitti Navarro, and an interview with Boy Abunda. Now, those are all big name celebrities. I don’t know though if this is the case in every issue, but the lesser number of pages means they are not as advertisement-packed like as FHM. And, their features are generally shorter - average of 3-5 pages only per feature.

Marian Rivera

The photos in this issue were taken by Charles Lu, again from Wildbunch Photography. The poses are something short of “revealing.” She’s pretty much “covered” in every photo, the only thing exposed are her legs. She gives that sexy, smoldering look in each photo though - which may be the only explanation why this feature is considered “men’s magazine.” The article was done by Paul John CaƱa. I have nothing to say about the article except it served it’s purpose.

So much buzz on Marian. Of course we have Marimar to blame, and Angel Locsin to sacrifice. I’m not quite sure where Marian Rivera came from. For me she just went from nothing to the biggest star in that other channel. She suits the part of Marimar though especially because she is half-Spanish. Nothing wrong with her look and body, she is in fact superstar material. I’m not sure I like the way she dances in Marimar.

Disclaimer and recommendation

This is my first disclaimer aimed at Manual magazine. To make it short, if you don’t want these kinds of posts, please inform us and we’ll remove them without question. Other than that, I greatly recommend this issue. It is my first taste of Manual and I’m very much satisfied. Click on the photo below to view some scans.

Saicy Aguila Maxim October 2007

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Sorry for the late issue review, I busted my scanner. Here it is - Saicy Aguila, of Pinoy Big Brother fame, on her first men’s magazine feature. I had confessed not knowing who Saicy was, it turns out I was misled by the print on the front cover - they now refer to her as “Saicy” only, dropping the Aguila entirely.

Issue review

I like this Maxim issue - not only for Saicy’s feature but for other features that make it worthwhile. In this October issue we also have Isabel Granada, who really deserves a separate post (actually, she deserves a separate cover feature), Nina Navarro - a chef, a bikini model named Cherrysh, a Quentin Tarantino interview, an interview with a “bar girl,” and a feature on the return of the bar Club Dredd. All of which I’m interested in. Wait, I’m not sure if the magazine’s binding is getting weaker - I tore the Saicy part while scanning (first time that happened).

Saicy

I’ve included 8 scans in the gallery. There are 11 pages of Saicy goodness in the issue, I’ve excluded the other interview pages. The photos are really revealing, enticing, and sexy. There’s nothing really special on the art direction, the layout, the wardrobe, and the location, just raw meant-to-titillate photographs. The photos were taken by Darren Tieste, the interview, by Vlad Bunoan.

Saicy has this sort-of exotic, probinsyana (well she is from Bacolod) look. I’m not really that big (of a fan) on her general appearance but she embodies Filipina beauty very well. She is sexy, no doubt, but there’s this one pose that I think needs a little photoshop-ing. It’s not really that big a deal but you know how perfect these magazine photos are. And, the fact that they need not photoshop it must mean that in reality, what we see is what we get.

Disclaimer

Let’s just say that this blog is covered by all the past disclaimers I’ve posted in previous entries. Other than that, this issue is recommended. Support local publications - buy their product. Click on the photo to view some scans.

Riza Santos FHM October 2007

Friday, October 5th, 2007

One thought came to mind after seeing FHM and Maxim’s October issues - I’m getting old. Honestly, I have no idea who those cover girls were - Riza Santos for FHM and Saicy for Maxim. Which, naturally, led me to buy both issues to further satisfy my curiosity. I do apologize however for posting this a little later than usual.

Issue review

Once again, this month’s FHM is packed - 176 pages, and also includes a supplementary called Fast Lane. Also featured in this issue are Denise Montecillo, Sandra Seifert, Tei Allison, Bhel, Ava Maria and GF of the Month Angelika - whoa, so many girls, so few issues - which is the primary reason why FHM is number one. Aside from the girls we also have weatherman Kim Atienza, ballers Dondon Hontiveros, Ren-ren Ritualo, Arwind Santos, James Yap, actor Rafael Rosell and for the band feature - Taken By Cars.

Riza, or Rizza Santos?

There’s some confusion on how her first name is correctly spelled. On the cover it’s Riza. Inside the magazine, it’s always Rizza. Why I am talking about spelling, I’m not quite sure either. At least now I know who she is - Miss Earth Canada. And I quote, “A true-blue Filipina whose family just happened to migrate to America’s neighbor up north.” She is also going to be a Viva Entertainment, Inc. contract star soon.

The photos were taken by Jay Tablante and the interview done by Allan P. Hernandez. The photos are great, exposure (skin) I would consider typical FHM - which is saying a lot actually. Her poses are titillating, her clothes very revealing. I just have to add, I like the barefoot theme - sorry, a fetish of mine. Now on to the interview. I only remembered one thing. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with the interview, it’s just that there’s this one bit of information that shocked the hell out of me. I’ll quote it from the magazine and end this post there. “I’m a virgin. I haven’t kissed anyone and I’m waiting till marriage to have my first kiss.
